PROCESSING OF SILICON CARBIDE BY LASER MICRO SINTERING

摘要: Silicon carbide – a solid with covalent bonds - is conventionally synthesized via the Acheson process. Usually bodies of silicon definite shapes are generated from grained material hot isostatic pressing or liquid phase sintering. Both processes conducted under well-controlled temperature regimes. Applying freeform fabrication technique “Laser Micro Sintering” poses big challenge to experimental skill due nonequilibrium conditions that characteristic features laser processing. Successive layers SiC thickness 1μm were processed coherent radiation 1064 nm. The specific behavior two different powders one them blended additives reported along interpretational approaches.
