摘要: Abstract This work assesses the disinfection for reuse of treated urban wastewaters using electrochemical-oxidation with conductive-diamond anodes, without adding any external chemical reagent. Three actual effluents municipal wastewater treatment plants (sample collected from secondary clarifiers) have been this technology, in every case, a complete removal Escherichia coli achieved. In addition, it has found that working within range current densities proposed (1.3–13.0 A m −2 ), technology does not form hazardous by-products (neither perchlorates nor halo-compounds), even at trace level. Combined effects chloramines and hypochlorite seem to be main mechanisms explain disinfection. The primary disinfectant produced electrolyses depends on density, concentration both: chlorides non-oxidized nitrogen, present raw wastewater. Power consumption as low 0.2 kW h m −3 is enough assure particular lower applied energy required get
