摘要: Objectives Sterculia and Brachychiton are two related genera (Malvaceae) containing more than 300 species. Most of these species ornamental trees that native to Australia widely cultivated in many countries. Different members the were used by various cultures for medicinal economical purposes. This review sheds light on values chemical composition genera. Key findings traditionally treatment gastrointestinal disorders, microbial infection, skin diseases, inflammation other conditions. The seeds roasted eaten traditional tribes. Plants from revealed their anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, antidiabetic, antiulcer, insecticidal analgesic activity. These activities may be attributed presence a wide range secondary metabolites as flavonoids, phenolic acids, coumarins, terpenoids particularly sesquiterpenes triterpenes addition sterols fatty acids. Moreover, gummy exudates obtained some played an important role different pharmaceutical dosage forms drug-delivery systems. Conclusions More research is recommended discover new molecular entities with potential biological economic values.
