摘要: Eulerian time-series were completed at three sites on the south eastern shelf of Sub-Antarctic Prince Edward Islands (PEI), from 9 to 27 April 2000, investigate spatial and temporal variability mesozooplankton communities in relation on-shelf hydrodynamics. Surface temperature phytoplankton biomass recorded daily all sites, while two Bongo net tows vertical profiles collected sites. Con- trary predictions water retention low ambient current velocities, cross-correlation analysis iden- tified a northward advection *8.23 cm s -1 over study area. Day day changes both physical bio- logical parameters associated with cross-shelf advection. However, sea had narrow range 6.2-7.4C, average between sample Bray-Curtis similarity zooplankton was high, exceeding 75%. The relatively consistent amounted *494 tonnes dry weight per being advected onto sector PEI shelf. We hypothesise that observed stability biological due Sub- Antarctic Front, its high volume transport steep gradients, far north islands. Spatial hydrodynamics shelf, particularly relationship shifting frontal positions, is highlighted as future research area necessary quantify gross delivery allochthonous ecosystem.
