摘要: The transcription factor NFAT5, also known as TonEBP, belongs to the family of Rel homology domain-containing factors, which comprises NF-κB proteins and calcineurin-dependent NFAT1 NFAT4. NFAT5 shares several structural functional features with other Rel-family for instance it recognizes DNA elements same core sequence those bound by 4, like responds Toll-like receptors (TLR) activates macrophage responses microbial products. On hand, is quite unique among factors can be activated hyperosmotic stress caused elevated concentrations extracellular sodium ions. regulates specific genes but others that are inducible 4. ability do so in response hypertonicity, products, inflammatory stimuli may extend capabilities immune cells mount effective anti-pathogen diverse microenvironment signaling conditions. Recent studies identifying osmostress-dependent -independent functions have broadened our understanding how modulate function. In this review we focus on role macrophages T different contexts, discussing findings from vivo mouse models deficiency reviewing current knowledge its mechanisms regulation. Finally, propose questions future research.
