The demise of Leptotheca Thélohan, 1895 (Myxozoa: Myxosporea: Ceratomyxidae) and assignment of its species to Ceratomyxa Thélohan, 1892 (Myxosporea: Ceratomyxidae), Ellipsomyxa Køie, 2003 (Myxosporea: Ceratomyxidae), Myxobolus Bütschli, 1882 and Sphaerospora Thélohan, 1892 (Myxosporea: Sphaerosporidae)

摘要: A revision of Leptotheca Thelohan, 1895 is presented. The boundaries that separate from Ceratomyxa 1892 and Sphaerospora are vague have been highlighted as an area concern within myxosporean classification. survey the literature revealed 63 species currently assigned to a further 11 relegated synonyms in Ceratomyxa, or Myxobolus Butschli, 1882. placement some genus unclear demonstrates need for revision. type-species (L. agilis Thelohan 1892) has many Ceratomyxa-like characters, such minor amendation diagnosis will then accept Leptotheca, rendering latter its synonym. We propose suppression with all reassigned Ellipsomyxa Koie, 2003, on basis appropriate morphological biological traits. diagnoses amended appropriately. Molecular analysis may change future; however, aim this review was eliminate ambiguity assignment genera by suppressing Leptotheca.
