摘要: Data from six automatic weather stations deployed around the interior of Lambert Glacier basin, Antarctica, at surface elevations 1830-2741 m are used to compile a climatology this part Antarctica for period 1994-96. The measure air pressure, near-surface wind speed and temperature several levels, direction firn temperatures. topography which extends more than 800 km inland, controls katabatic regime strongly influences climate region. Windiest sites on steep coastal slopes, within depression Mellor Ice Streams where flow is topographically channelled. Surface winds here show greater seasonal variation in but less elsewhere. annual mean temperatures relatively slopes eastern side basin 4-5°C warmer equivalent altitude western side. During winter, near-synchronous synoptic pressure increases occur throughout least 1000 coast. There consistent pattern diurnal summer all stations, with maximum about 0900 LST (local solar time), most easterly 1300 LST.
