摘要: Abstract 87Sr/86Sr isotope analysis was performed on 45 cattle teeth, 5 sheep/goat teeth and 2 pig from two archaeological sites in the Netherlands, dating to Iron Age Roman period. This makes it one of largest strontium projects focusing animals Netherlands - date. An integrated approach taken, combining results with those archaeology zooarchaeology. Mobility is demonstrated for five 23 analysed samples rural settlement Houten-Castellum by analysis. Three travelled over considerable distances (over 150 km) Houten oxygen carbon stable values support a non-local origin these animals. There little evidence incoming at this site during period only animal recording signature. In contrast, isotopes indicate least four different geographic origins livestock town of Heerlen, with none being local. The highlight differing behaviour sites. Whereas for like Houten, influx might be explained gift exchange, trade or raids, likely that flow traded Period would go towns army camps. Heerlen represented destination derived surrounding areas supply an active town.
