摘要: Objective To examine the auditory function in a group of children with type 1 diabetes, and to study association between hearing impairment duration illness, metabolic control diabetic complication. Methods Sixty-three patients below age 18 attending university hospital Khartoum, Sudan were investigated together 63 sex matched non-diabetic controls. Pure-tone audiometric tests performed using an Amplaid 300 clinical audiometer soundproof room. Both air bone conduction tested at frequencies 250-8000 Hz 250-4000 respectively. Hearing was noted threshold above 25 dB any frequency magnitude loss assessed according conversational only. Results The acuity lower than subjects all frequencies, but differences achieve statistical significance only middle high frequencies. symmetrical, generally mild, affects both sexes equally. Duration HbA1c concentration, angiopathic complications showed positive correlation increased thresholds; while, onset, insulin dose per day, presence neuropathy, DKA hypoglycaemic episodes not associated. Conclusion occurs early is related disease degree control. Strict glycemic might prevent or delay this
