Vascular complications associated with the use of intraaortic balloon pumping.

摘要: Our 11-year experience with intraaortic balloon pumping (IABP) was analyzed to determine the incidence and evaluate management of vascular complications. Between 1973 1984, 637 patients were candidates for IABP. In 41 cases, IABP precluded because peripheral disease inhibited catheter insertion. Of 596 who underwent IABP, 304 (51.0%) survived hospital period, late follow-up information available 283 (93%) these. The results respect duration survival presence lower-extremity claudication. Sixty-six (11.1%) experienced complications (mainly in form limb ischemia). Balloon removal, followed by thromboembolectomy, restored viability majority cases.
