摘要: Objectives: Because the prevalence of carcinoma is high in main-duct intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMNs) pancreas, surgical resection recommended for all type IPMNs. This study aimed to investigate clinical predictors malignancy and natural history Methods: Preoperative characteristics reliably correlated with 26 surgically resected patients IPMN, long-term outcome 20 conservatively followed IPMN was examined. Results: Age at diagnosis significantly older than patients. Main pancreatic duct (MPD) dilatation 10 mm or greater mural nodules were more frequent malignant Obvious progression MPD detected 4 who developed invasive carcinoma. The histology autopsy died other causes 21 120 months later adenoma. Seven without findings did not show obvious dilatation. Conclusions: Although indicated many IPMNs, conservative follow-up may be an option elderly asymptomatic IPMNs less mm, no nodule, negative cytology.
