The average sleep duration declined by about 15 min 38-year-old during 36 years observation. No corresponding change was observed among women. During same period, proportion complaining almost doubled both age groups: 17.7% 1968 31.7% 2004 women, 21.6% 41.8% prevalence insomnia higher 50-year olds than 38-year all investigated cohorts. use medications remained unchanged since 1968. There were significant associations between perceived lower satisfaction concerning economic, social family situations, as well with retirement mental stress. was, however, no association alcohol consumption problems.
