The paper is based on an empirical study the spatial four industries. Dominant themes resulting from aggregate level analysis regional incidence acquisitions were concentrated pattern acquirers compared to dispersed distribution acquired firms, high extra-regional takeovers affecting most peripheral regions. Detailed post-acquisition changes showed that middle management functions normally remained with firm, expansions output at plants more common than closures, whereas service linkage normal, material market rare.
