摘要: SUMMARY Until 2006, BKPyV and JCPyV were the only known human polyomaviruses. A third polyomavirus, simian virus 40 whose natural host is macaque was accidently introduced into man because of contaminated poliovirus vaccines, although there epidemiological evidence that SV40 may be transmitted between independently from vaccines. Since 2007, 10 new polyomaviruses have been identified: KIPyV, WUPyV, Merkel cell trichodysplasia spinulosa-associated 6, 7, 9, 10, STL, 12. Moreover, DNA monkey lymphotropic polyomavirus has amplified peripheral blood. Seroepidemiological studies frequently based on presence antibodies against major capsid protein VP1 or virus-like particles indicate most adults exposed to many, if not all, However, high amino acid sequence identity some polyomaviruses, cross-reactivity occasionally observed. In addition, sera possess reactivity other species, suggesting serological cross-reaction with closely related, yet unidentified and/or possibility zoonotic transmission. Thus, current results should interpreted caution, controls excluding are required. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
