Organization of the visual projection upon the optic tectum of some freshwater fish

摘要: In four species of freshwater fish, bass, carp, bluegill and goldfish, the topographical relations visual field with contralateral optic tectum were investigated, using a small light as stimulus in recording electrical response metal microelectrode. The results show precisely organized projection onto which anterior lies anteriorly on tectum, temporal posteriorly, dorsal medio-dorsally, ventral latero-ventral part tectum. was found to be essentially linear uniform no indication specialized area those investigated. Some receptive fields extended into binocular field.
