摘要: When environmental conditions deteriorate, many ciliates enter a state of suspended animation known as resting cyst. The cyst is survival strategy: protected within thick cell wall, the organism can survive harsh and emerge once improve. A significant literature describes formation cysts in laboratory but surprisingly little about signals that reawaken dormant organisms. In this review, we discuss awaken context their environment ecology, integrate these findings into conceptual framework. We also role (and awakening signals) pathogenicity human parasitic protozoan diseases: Giardia, Plasmodium, Toxoplasma, Cryptosporidium, Balantidium, Entamoeba.
