摘要: The impact of ultra-fast carrier dynamics in semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs) on switches based cross-gain and cross-phase modulation is analyzed theoretically experimentally. We find that effects lead to additional spectral broadening, which improves the signal-to-noise ratio for an SOA filter. For such switches, influence so-called nonlinear patterning effect three filter configurations: asymmetric Mach-Zehnder interferometer (AMZI), a band-pass (BPF), cascade AMZI BPF. conclude fast dramatically reduces successful high-speed (>100 Gb/s) demonstrations literature rely these effects.
