摘要: . Studies were conducted to determine the distribution of fish in New and East Rivers relation thermal discharges from Appalachian Power Company's fossil fuel plant at Glen Lyn, Virginia. Over 15,300 specimens representing 41 species collected with seines, electrogear rotenone six sampling locations February, 1973 October 1973. Sampling frequency was designed evaluate effects ambient temperature upon preferred temperature. Diversity indices calculated for each location. There a slight decrease diversity those stations located discharge. Condition coefficients Notropis albeolus Jordan, rubellus Aqasaiz, spilopterus Cope, Ictalurus punctatus Rafinesque, Etheostoma blennioides Rafuesque found be significantly (p =.05) lower discharge all tested except E. blennioides. Temperatures plotted against capture particular selection field data indicated that: (1) Some avoided high temperatures (i.e., Curnpostoma anomalum Rafuesque). (2) attracted punctatus). (3) not effected by spilopterus).
