摘要: Abstract Background Using the World Health Organisation (WHO) surgical checklist has been shown to improve safety of patients undergoing surgery. Its effect on compliance venous thromboembolism(VTE) guidelines not established before. Our objective was assess if using WHO improved VTE prophylaxis guidelines. Methods Compliance NICE were prospectively assessed in all general surgery over two separate audit periods, before and after 6 months routine use checklist. Correct completion verified. Results 370 (173 [47%] male, 197 [53%] female, mean age 61.6 yrs). Non reduced form 16/233 (6.9%) 3/137 (2.1%) introduction ( p  = 0.046 Fisher exact test). both emergency elective procedures. Conclusions Establishment for may significantly guideline patients.
