A folate independent role for cytosolic HPPK/DHPS upon stress in Arabidopsis thaliana

摘要: Cytosolic HPPK/DHPS (cytHPPK/DHPS) in Arabidopsis is a functional enzyme with activity similar to its mitochondrial isoform. Genomic complementation of the cytHPPK/DHPS knockout mutant wild type gene led complete rescue stress sensitive phenotype seed germination tests under abiotic conditions. Moreover, over-expression resulted higher rate as compared wild-type, confirming role resistance. Analysis folates seedlings, inflorescence and dry seeds showed unchanged levels over-expressor line, upon normal conditions, suggesting for distinct from folate biosynthesis folate-independent resistance mechanism. This apparently mechanism points towards possible pterins, since product dihydropteroate.
