摘要: Iodine deficiency disorders are among the most significant public health problems in world at present time, especially children and pregnant women, considered highest risk population. These hinder socio-economic development affected areas. IDD a permanent natural occurrence that affects entire planet, which means people living iodine-deficient areas will always be exposed to consequences of deficiency, particular increased perinatal mortality, mental retardation brain developmental delay. Consequently, it is major cause preventable damage childhood, its elimination one biggest challenges health. small amounts body main role act as substrate for thyroid hormone synthesis. When dietary requirements not met, frequency increases. In general, these underdiagnosed and, many countries, there no awareness associated or iodine status population. Methods: Accurate methodological review medical literature included MEDLINE database using MeSH terms “iodine”, “disorders”, “iodide”, “deficiency”, combined with logical operators “AND”, “OR” “NOT” “also try” characteristic data published “any date”, limiting search results including link abstracts full text, exclusively humans regardless gender. For preliminary evaluation, following types studies were selected: clinical trials, meta-analyses, randomized controlled practice guidelines, articles.
