A Comparison of Treatment of Paraphilias with Three Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors: A Retrospective Study

摘要: Treatment of the paraphilic disorders using behavioral, cognitive, pharmacological, and social interventions has been shown to have limited success with poorly motivated or noncompliant patients. Researchers speculated on role serotonergic system in disorders. Recent anecdotal studies reported successful results selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) treatment This retrospective study evaluates compares effectiveness three SSRIs a group paraphilics (N = 58). The individual fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, sertraline were examined compared. Results found that severity fantasies decreased there no significant differences efficacy between sertraline. Although double blind placebo crossover are still needed assess these agents, this further supports growing body literature potential use drugs paraphilias.
