The Canadian Ice Service (CIS) has successfully used airborne and spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data extensively for almost three decades in their daily ice oil monitoring operations. Microwave radar's unique ability to penetrate clouds weather make these types of invaluable the CIS's support efficient environmental stewardship safe operations waters.
