摘要: Satellite microwave data are used to study gravity wave properties and variabilities over the northeastern United States North Atlantic in December-January periods. The waves this region, found many winters, can reach stratopause with growing amplitude. Advanced Microwave Sounding Unit-A (AMSU-A) observations show that occurrences correlated well intensity location of tropospheric baroclinic jet front systems. To further investigate cause(s) waves, we focus on a series events during 19-21 January 2003 compare AMSU-A simulations from mesoscale model (MM5). simulated qualitatively satellite terms structures, timing, overall morphology.
