摘要: A new unshielded low-frequency GPR antenna, centred on a frequency of about 40 MHz, has been recently developed by IDS Ingegneria dei Sistemi Spa, leading Italian manufacturer. The antenna is being tested. Engineering Geology Laboratory the L'Aquila University, with consolidated experience in investigations, used it two karst areas central Italy, where available underground data were compared to results, thus verifying depth and accuracy antenna. study were: i) Lepini massif, characterized diffuse caves conduits (for which detailed speleological geological available); ii) Gran Sasso Massif, welldeveloped surficial morphologies also latter area provided another 100 MHz (maximum investigation depth: 10 m). radar time window was set 640 ns, implying maximum penetration 30 m at standard propagation velocity cm/ns. In some strong anomalies, due occurrence known caves, good agreement location obtained from surveys. On those recorded showing that prototype very powerful tool investigate deep cave morphology.
