Investigation of the magnetic properties of insulating thin films using the longitudinal spin Seebeck effect

摘要: The longitudinal spin Seebeck effect is used as a detector for the magnetic properties and switching characteristics of thin insulating films. We use 300 nm 20 nm thick Yttrium Iron Garnet (YIG, Y3Fe5O12) film prepared by pulsed laser deposition afterwards coated platinum detection thermally excited magnons inverse Hall effect. signals reveal uniaxial anisotropy along direction stripe in thicker film. For we find more isotropic behavior, which complementarily observed using magnetoresistance occurring at platinum/YIG interface. explain our results on basis x-ray diffraction data, miscut substrate surface an expansion YIG lattice. Both findings favor growth-induced that observe.
