摘要: Abstract This paper presents a methodology for the selection of joining process in design, implemented software. The method captures important coupling between options, material and design detail, using databases assembled by discussion with experts on mechanical fastening, welding adhesives. approach first eliminates solutions that are not technically feasible, reasons, then ranks remaining basis degree agreement set requirements (using fuzzy logic algorithm). software implementation designer questionnaire, to assemble terms joint geometry, materials be joined, functions required from joint, production conditions. Consideration is also given other ‘local’ factors may influence selection, such as availability equipment necessary skills, or current practice. application methods illustrated case study. tool successfully restricts number processes evaluated further example, before undertaking more difficult task detailed cost evaluation. successful suggesting modifications facilitate joining, indicating possible innovative use unfamiliar processes.
