摘要: Language occurs naturally in conversations. However, the study of neural underpinnings language has mainly taken place single individuals using controlled material. The interactive elements a conversation (e.g., turn-taking) are often not part neurolinguistic setups. prime reason is difficulty to combine open unrestricted conversations with requirements neuroimaging. It necessary find trade-off between naturalness and restrictions imposed by neuroscientific methods allow for ecologically more valid studies. Here we make an attempt effects conversational element, namely turn-taking, on linguistic correlates, specifically N400 effect. We focus physiological aspect speaker-switch, its effect detectability event-related potential reflects expectation violations semantic context; describes difference amplitude semantically expected unexpected items. Sentences congruent incongruent final words were presented two turn-taking modes: (1) reading aloud first sentence listening speaker-switch word, (2) word. A significant was found both modes, which influenced mode itself. significantly affected P200, increased compared mode. Our results show that can be detected during speaker-switch. Speech articulation (reading aloud) before analyzed fragment did also impede detection however, seems influence earlier components electroencephalogram, related processing salient stimuli. conclude effectively used correlates approaches including speaker-switches.
