Spatiotemporal Analysis of Category and Target-related Information Processing in the Brain during Object Detection

摘要: To recognize a target object, the brain implements strategies which involve combination of externally sensory-driven and internally task-driven mechanisms. While several studies have suggested role for frontal areas in enhancing task-related representations visual cortices, especially lateral-occipital cortex, they remained silent about type information transferred to areas. However, recently developed method representational causality analysis, allowed us track movement different types brain. Accordingly, we designed an EEG object detection experiment evaluated spatiotemporal dynamics category- target-related across using. Results showed that prefrontal area initiated processing information. This was then posterior during stimulus presentation facilitate direct decision-making procedure. We also observed that, as compared category-related information, could predict behavioral performance more accurately, suggesting dominant representation internal external signals. These results provided new evidence cortices detection.
