摘要: Summary Ischaemia-induced physeal injury has not been described previously in the horse. A 1-month-old Quarter horse foal was submitted for necropsy examination due to an acute onset of ataxia followed by a 4-week history progressive decline. Focal narrowing spinal canal ventral compression rotation cranial aspect third cervical vertebra (C3) observed. The metaphysis and diaphysis C3 were markedly shortened white–tan colour. Microscopically, there complete loss dorsal compact bone replacement 80% physis that runs parallel vertebral with fibrous tissue thickened viable trabecular bone. Both caudal physes showed widespread bands coagulative necrosis hypertrophic calcifying zones. Marked marrow hypoplasia slight fibrosis observed metaphyses diaphysis. There no evidence fracture or inflammation. epiphyses microscopically unremarkable. It hypothesized regional transient incomplete possibly multiphasic ischaemia involving nutrient artery caused physes, resulting dysplasia Ischaemic should be considered pathogenesis focal horses.
