摘要: This article presents an integrated assessment conducted in order to explore whether carbon capture and storage (CCS) could be a viable technological option for significantly reducing future CO2 emissions South Africa. The methodological approach covers commercial availability analysis, analysis of the long-term usable potential (based on capacity assessment, energy scenario source-sink matching), economic ecological stakeholder analysis. findings show, that reliable is needed, since only rough figures concerning effective currently exist. Further constraints fast deployment CCS may delayed CCS, significant barriers increasing viability expected net maximum reduction rate power plant's greenhouse gas 67%-72%, increase other environmental social impacts, low public awareness CCS. One precondition opting would find robust solutions these constraints, taking into account potentially conflict with important policy objectives, such as affordable electricity rates give whole population access electricity.
