摘要: An experiment was performed to investigate whether or not we are able use octave generalization in recognizing tunes. The firat half of the tune “Yankee Doodle” wu chosen as test sequence. This universally recognized when played any one three octaves. However, sequence identical fashion. except that each note randomly from same octaves, percentage correct recognition significantly different obtained a series clicks with pitch information omitted but rhythmic retained. It is concluded takes place along channel which independent gives rise generalization. relevance this finding theory music proposed by Deutsch (1969) discussed.
