摘要: Purpose To determine the cause, associated factors, visual results, and systemic morbidity in patients less than 40 years old with retinal arterial occlusions. Methods We studied 27 eyes nontraumatic occlusions 21 (range, 22 to 38 years; mean, 28 years). Results Of patients, branch artery (arteriolar) occlusion occurred 15 (71%), central five (24%), cilioretinal one (5%). Retinal were bilateral six (29%) 14 women (67%). Emboli identifiable seven (33%). Cardiac valvular disease was most commonly recognized etiologic agent present four (19%). Various factors leading a hypercoagulable state or embolic condition identified 19 (91%). Conclusion young adults occur via multiple mechanisms. Systemic evaluation allows detection of risk factor for occlusive patients.
