摘要: The maximum rate at which a synaptic link could theoretically transmit information depends on the type of coding used. In binary modulation system it chiefly relaxation time, and limiting capacity equals attainable impulse rate. using pulse-interval modulation, temporal precision may be more important factor. It is shown that in number typical cases second several times per through than system, relation between relative efficiency, relaxation-time, resolving power generalized graphical form. concluded, not interval rather “ought” to mode action central nervous but contrary assumption unsupported by considerations efficiency.
