摘要: Abstract "Addiction modules" consist of two genes. In most them the product one is long lived and toxic while second short antagonizes effect; so far, they have been described mainly in a number prokaryotic extrachromosomal elements responsible for postsegregational killing effect. Here we show that chromosomal genes mazE mazF, located Escherichia coli rel operon, all properties required an addiction module. Furthermore, expression mazEF regulated by cellular level guanosine [corrected] 3',5'-bispyrophosphate, RelA protein under amino acid starvation. These suggest system may be programmed cell death E. thus role physiology
