Simplified nutrient labelling: consumers’ perceptions in Germany and Belgium

摘要: Growing consumer interest in food and health has motivated the European industry to provide more simple information about nutritional composition of foods. In addition traditional back-of-pack nutrition table, simplified front-of-pack labels have been introduced by allow consumers making better informed healthier choices. this study, consumers’ perceptions information, namely Guideline Daily Amount (GDA) Traffic light (TL), Germany Belgium are explored. Consumer surveys (n = 147) 128) were conducted 2008. Data analysed means descriptive statistics regression analysis. both countries, GDA is most widely used label. Whereas indicate a preference for GDA, favoured most. Regression analyses that predilection different affected socio-demographic characteristics towards respective labels. policy makers industries should be aware cross-country differences regarding perception The challenge stakeholder groups raise awareness potential function healthy choices among consumers.
