High purity fructose from inulin with heterogeneous catalysis – kinetics and modelling

摘要: BACKGROUND Inulin can be extracted from the non-edible chicory root and high purity fructose obtained hydrolysis of inulin used as a valuable platform molecule for further valorization. Heterogeneous catalysts are sought after alternatives to mineral acids because costly separation severe corrosion problems. In this work, was performed in batch reactor with an advanced sulfonic resin (Smopex-101) employing HCl reference catalyst, at 75 °C - 95 °C pH ranging 1 2. RESULTS The reaction shown proceed predominantly via end-biting mechanism. The activity heterogeneous catalyst on par special advantage that Smopex-101 more selective towards monomer formation milder conditions. Mathematical modelling kinetics successfully recently developed model incorporating mechanism based autocatalytic effect. CONCLUSIONS The current work demonstrates by ambient pressure. results directly utilized optimization design purposes they open up novel possibilities production process design, i.e. or possibly continuous operation without need problems commonly encountered homogeneous catalysts.
