摘要: This study evaluates the effectiveness of two popular soil amendments gypsum and polyacrylamide (PAM), in minimizing erosion from one overburden (spoil) material a mine rehabilitation site North Queensland. The treatments included; untreated (control), application rate 10 t/ha, anionic PAM 40 kg/ha, combined both (PAM+gypsum) at same rates above, all replicated three times. Rainfall experiments were carried out Griffith University's rainfall-runoff simulation facility on 9% slope mean rainfall intensity 120 mm/h duration 30 minutes. Runoff sediment samples collected specific time intervals during experiments. Total loss treated spoil significantly lower than for control. reduced by 39%, 58%, 80%, respectively gypsum, PAM, PAM+gypsum treatments, compared to was 48%, 60%, 72%, Results indicate that use combination reduce tested but gives best results both. improved surface conditions contributed towards reduction loss. effective maintaining well-aggregated minimize detachment rain runoff resistant sealing. slopes prior establishment vegetation may be an way reducing offsite consequences pollutant transport viable cover.
