摘要: Background Progress in the field of evolutionary forest ecology has been hampered by huge challenge phenotyping trees across their ranges natural environments, and limitation high-resolution environmental information. Findings The GenTree Platform contains phenotypic data from 4,959 12 ecologically economically important European tree species: Abies alba Mill. (silver fir), Betula pendula Roth. birch), Fagus sylvatica L. (European beech), Picea abies (L.) H. Karst (Norway spruce), Pinus cembra (Swiss stone pine), halepensis (Aleppo nigra Arnold black pinaster Aiton (maritime sylvestris (Scots Populus poplar), Taxus baccata (English yew), Quercus petraea (Matt.) Liebl. (sessile oak). Phenotypic (height, diameter at breast height, crown size, bark thickness, biomass, straightness, forking, branch angle, fructification), regeneration, situ measurements (soil depth, vegetation cover, competition indices), modeling extracted using bilinear interpolation accounting for surrounding conditions each (precipitation, temperature, insolation, drought indices) were obtained 194 sites covering species' geographic reflecting local gradients. Conclusion is a new resource investigating ecological processes trees. coherent characterization species allow wide range analyses ecologists, conservationists, macro-ecologists. Also, here presented can be linked to Dendroecological collection, Leaf Trait Genomic collection elsewhere, which together build largest available.
