摘要: Pressure drop and flow rate measurements in a rigid cast of human aortic bifurcation under both steady physiological pulsatile conditions are reported. Integral momentum mechanical energy balances used to calculate impedance, spatially averaged wall shear stress viscous dissipation from the data. In daughter branches, impedance is within 30% Poiseuille prediction, while factor 2 fully developed, oscillatory, straight tube theory (Womersley theory). Estimates accord with obtained velocity profiles. Mean pressure elevated relative at mean rate, exponents their Reynolds number dependence available theory.
