摘要: We examined head capsule cholinesterase (ChE) and foraging behavior in nymphs of the dragonfly, Anax junius, exposed for 24 h to 0.2, 0.6 1.0 μg l−1 organophosphorus (OP) insecticide, chlorpyrifos [O,O-diethyl O-(3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyridyl) phosphorothioate]. The invertebrate community is an important component structure function wetland ecosystems, yet potential effects insecticides on ecosystems are largely unknown. Our objectives were determine if exposure environmentally realistic concentrations affected ChE activity capsules dragonfly nymphs. Nymphs different prey densities a factorial design. activities behaviors treated not statistically (p ≥ 0.05) from control groups. Prey density exerted greater effect than toxicant exposures. offered higher exhibited more but also missed their often. High variability within group across groups precluded determination relationships between behaviors. It appears that A. junius relatively tolerant chlorpyrifos, although we tested have been shown other work adversely affect base; therefore introduction this insecticide may indirect adverse affects top predators such as Odonata.
