Birds and people in semiarid northeastern Brazil: symbolic and medicinal relationships

摘要: At least 511 species of birds occur in the semiarid region northeastern Brazil and many them interact with human populations a number different ways, including their use zootherapeutics links local beliefs. The present work examined these types birds/human interactions (use beliefs) Rio Grande do Norte State Brazil. Information was obtained through semi-structured interviews 120 residents. A total 16 wild bird distributed among 11 families were found to directly humans, Columbidae being best represented family. Seven identified medicinal category, five related symbolic aspects, while four as both categories (medicinal symbolic). accumulated folk knowledge, beliefs, practices involving avifauna Brazil, whether or medicinal, demonstrated cultural importance this vertebrate group revealed belief system intrinsically cynegetic region. Esta pesquisa registrou aves diretamente associadas essas formas interacao (o crencas) na regiao semiarida Estado Norte, Nordeste Brasil. As informacoes foram obtidas atraves entrevistas semiestruturadas aplicadas moradores locais. Foram registradas silvestres distribuidas familias, sendo que apresentou maior numero representantes. Sete indicadas apenas categoria cinco relacionadas aspectos simbolicos quatro ambas categorias simbolica). Os conhecimentos, crencas praticas no brasileiro, seja aspecto simbolico ou demonstra importância esse grupo vertebrados representa para locais, revelando um sistema esta intrinsicamente relacionado cinegeticas regiao.
