摘要: Recently, there has been widespread concern about the understanding of land change and urban growth, in particular for addressing a wide range issues environment. Although new sophisticated methods have developed successfully applied to growth characterization, these require rich data input limit their applicability data-poor context. For such contexts, we evaluation approach (UGEA) with freely available Landsat images that can be used characterize by overcoming limitations. Initially, employed neighborhood interactions surrounding area rationally define use (ULU). Subsequently, ULU changes were utilized major patterns using three indicators: infill, extension, leapfrog development. Later, further divided into low, moderate, high sublevels, depending on interaction as newly introduced evaluation. We tested performance our case study Colombo metropolitan Sri Lanka. Our results indicate is acceptable. suggest UGEA comparative studies rather than individual future.
