The multi-scale spatial match between bird and food abundances is a main driver of the structure fruit-eating assemblages. We explored how activity birds was influenced by abundance fruits at local landscape scales in Andean mountain forests during breeding season, when most forage close to their nest. measured: (1) scale variation fruits, (2) birds, (3) both variables. sampling design consisted eleven 1.2-ha sites, each subdivided into 30 cells 20 × 20 m, where we sampled birds. found that fruit consumption, lesser extent abundance, were associated with selected species. However, did not modify distribution following changes availability these fruits. Our study shows detect home ranges, exploit patches large clusters it may be unprofitable for stray too far from nests fruit-rich patches, accounting absence tracking larger scales.
