摘要: The development of a new semi-continuous method for operation fixed bed contactor is described. technique, termed reciprocating flow, utilizes density differences to achieve the shunting solutions in alternating directions through bed. One possible flow arrangements was investigated using strong acid ion exchanger and calcium/sodium system. It found that technique feasible partial removal (80–60%) calcium from having concentrations ranging 400 2000 ppm. carbonate. Regenerant consumption water requirements compare favourably with present commercial practice. However, small regenerant leak 1–14 meq./l. into solution unavoidable. Resin column heights can be made fraction those presently used installations. Analyses some important factors limiting efficiency indicate highly concentrated may effectively treated by technique.
