摘要: The United States (U.S.) Gulf Coast is a prominent global energy hub with set of highly integrated critical infrastructure that rivals, if not surpasses, any comparable anywhere in the world. Past extreme weather events region have led to disruptions national and implications. Future sea-level rise (SLR), coupled other natural hazards, will lead significant increase damage exposure. This research assesses coastal at risk from various fixed SLR outcomes scenarios. results indicate gas processing plants treat process before moving it into interstate transmission system may be particularly vulnerable inundation than forms infrastructure. Under certain assumptions, as much six Bcfd (eight percent all U.S. capacity) could inundated. More exposure assumptions result greater levels capacity including 39 refining based on current operating levels. its show while fossil fuel industries are often referenced part climate change problem, these likely more proportionally exposed negative impacts relative industrial sectors economy. has important implications for supplies costs, well regional economies reliant supporting industries.
