摘要: Incident-beam monochromators have been available commercially for many years, but the significant advantages of their use in conventional divergent-beam diffractometry are not widely appreciated. The improvement quality diffraction data which results from removal Kα2 component Kα radiation at source has important consequences most applications powder diffraction. In particular, there is a simple well characterized instrumental function with predictable angular variation. parameters define this independent any sample and provide basis comparing configurations assessing reference materials. At low angles profiles predominantly Gaussian high they tend to be Lorentzian, owing dominant effect wavelength dispersion. main features using strictly monochromatic diffractometry, namely improved resolution, shape better evaluation background level higher angles, described. benefits these properties current e.g. indexing, line-profile analysis structure analysis, discussed briefly.
