Aluminum-containing layered double hydroxides: the thermal, mechanical, and fire properties of (nano)composites of poly(methyl methacrylate)

摘要: Hydrotalcite-like anionic clays or layered double hydroxides (LDHs) of the general formula [MII1−xMIIIx(OH)2]intra[(CH2CH(CH2)8COO−)x·nH2O]inter, with MIII = Al and MII Co, Ni, Cu Zn, have been prepared by co-precipitation method used to prepare nanocomposites poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA). One goal this work was compare morphology, thermal, fire mechanical properties those well known PMMA–montmorillonite system. The thermal these systems are greatly improved relative virgin PMMA, ZnAl2 CoAl2 being best when 50% mass loss is point comparison. NiAl2, on other hand, more thermally stable 10% properties, such as Young's Modulus elongation, were not significantly impacted nanocomposite formation. cone calorimetric results showed that PMMA–CoAl2 system gives reduction (41%) in peak heat release rate (PHRR); value larger than seen for Small improvements observed nickel-containing LDH same polymer. XRD char produced calorimeter, after heating 1000 °C, suggest formation a mixture spinel oxide Ni while only identified case systems.
