摘要: We assessed the value of valproate in prevention recurrent attacks absence status 25 patients. Eighteen patients had primary generalized epilepsy with a mean frequency 5.7 per year. After follow-up period 4.4 years, attack was reduced to 0.6 year (p less than 0.0005); 14 no recurrence, 3 rare noncompliance, and 1 an incomplete response probably due gastrointestinal intolerance. Patients evidence cerebral damage (n = 2) or EEG focalization 5) did not respond as favorably. Valproate is drug choice for recurrence status.
