摘要: Background: Diarrhea is second only to pneumonia as the cause of child mortality worldwide. Developing countries particularly in Sub Saharan Africa including Ethiopia have a high burden this disease. Studies showed that different factors were associated with occurrence childhood diarrhea. Therefore, study was aimed identify determinant diarrhea underfive children Benishangul Gumuz Regional State, western Ethiopia. Method: Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) data 2011 used for study. The extracted from National DHS using extraction tools. A total 925 under five selected. logistic regression model employed examine determinants diarrhoea. Both bivariate multivariate analysis performed SPSS version 16.0. Result: results indicated low level maternal education [AOR = 1.81, 95% CI (1.12,2.76)], absence toilet facility 3.5, (2.4, 5.2)], improper stool disposal methods 2.05, 95%CI (1.36, 3.10)], having more than two [AOR=1.73, (1.03, 2.93)], higher birth order [AOR=6.1, (3.1,12.2)] age [AOR=1.9, (1.2, 3.6)] found be risk after adjusting other variables. When stratified by education, it mothers who had no most vulnerable facilities [OR =9.16, (5.79, 14.48)]. Conclusion: Under poor environmental conditions, primary above protected their against better education. Thus, implementing effective educational programs emphasize health sanitation practices encouraging female school enrolment would reduce diarrheal morbidity region.
